Join AgX and Art Department of UMass-Boston for an introduction to projection Mapping,
where participants will learn techniques for projection mapping( Projection Mapping uses everyday
video projectors, but instead of projecting on a flat screen, your moving image content is mapped
onto any surface, for example widow, brick wall, building surface, corner of the room. More formally,
projection mapping is “the display of an image on a non-flat or non-white surface”. Each participant
will be working in a small group with provided cardboard boxes for building projection surfaces,
sample video clips, projector and computer. we will have a mini projection mapping festival,
At the end of the workshop. Please bring some video clips and your laptop for the test.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Wenhua Shi is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art at UMass Boston.
Originally trained as a doctor in China, Wenhua departed from the medical field and began
working in radio and TV in his hometown of Wuhan. In 2009 he graduated with an MFA from
Art Practice at the University of California at Berkeley. Wenhua Shi pursues a poetic
approach to moving image making, and investigates conceptual depth in film, video, interactive
installations and sound sculptures.
